I don’t know how it started, but sometime throughout the years, Schwes and I began ushering in each month with a celebratory “Happy new month!” said with the same amount of enthusiasm as “Happy New Year!” and “Happy Birthday!”
Maybe that level of excitement was unnecessary, but today I’m reflecting on the past month, and it really feels like a fresh start. Reflective moods are never to be wasted, in my humble opinion, so will you join me as I recount things I’ve learned and accomplished in the past month, and what I’m anticipating in the month to come?
Things I learned:
Bonsai is not a kind of tree. It’s a method of growing other kinds of trees. Who knew? I like this one:
My first trip to Texas was very Texas-y. Stars everywhere. Longhorn cattle decorations everywhere. Peppers growing as flowers in the front garden. Tex-Mex restaurants everywhere.
I learned what a Brazilian Cheese Puff is, and I liked it very very much.
I can consume 5 cups of coffee in one day in order to stay awake and warm. #NationalCoffeeDay anyone?
17-year-old Jules did not make good oatmeal cookies. (I found an old recipe. It was not delightful.)
I ADORE baby cuddles:
Old days are not all they’re cracked up to be. I’m thankful for my childhood, but I wouldn’t want to go back to it.
Psalm 13: It is okay to be depressed. As long as you don’t stay there. Psalm 136: Glory to God, for his steadfast love endures forever.
My Mommy and I are nearly the same person. (meaning I saw my Mommy this month!!!! Even though she lives in Germany!!!!)
Fall cannot come soon enough. I miss the colors of the north, but I am thankful that God gives the south a touch of the rainbow anyway.
My mommy is coming back for the birth of a new niece!
Friendships. I am so thankful for the people God has placed in my life, and I look forward to how he grows us all in the coming month!
All right, so this was a sort of cheater’s post, but y’all — I just wrote a paper on mandated reporters of child abuse and needed something cheerful to set my mind on. Also, I’m just so thankful for the life God has given me. How about you? What are your blessings?
