The second post of this year-long blogging excursion expressed amusement at how sunny South Carolina deals with snow. Here on my second to last post until I reach my year’s goal (once a week, every week, for one whole year), I am faced with another snowy day. This year, however, it occurred on a weekend, so there was less overall panic. Mostly people just stayed bundled up inside on Saturday and Sunday. It’s been pleasant cooking food, watching movies, and relaxing with my fiance’ before the craziness of this semester hits. But more on that next week. Today, I want to recount the numbers of 2016:
222,223,000: miles on Bumble Beast (my rumbly little 1998 Saturn SL2)
4,571: miles to Schwes
4,518: miles to Mom and Dad
730: miles to Bro #1
187: days until I am Mrs. Jules H!!!
51: blog posts written! One more to finish my goal!
22: books I finished reading. There are 3 more in progress, but sadly life took reading time away.
17: mugs. Just in my apartment. That doesn’t count the 4 miniature decorative teacups or the 5 mugs in my office.
15: minutes it took to scrape the ice off my car this morning.
12: siblings and siblings-in-law since I will gain 6 this year!
10: episodes of Sherlock watched… and rewatched this year
9: photos I accidentally took with my phone while running through Chicago trying to stay warm.
8: kiddos born! Kiddos are my nieces, nephews, and honorary nieces and nephews!
7: extra hours in my year. I began 2016 in Switzerland and finished it in Illinois.
6: Notable cities I’ve visited this year: Zurich, New York City, London (ish), Charleston, Dallas, and Chicago
5: French press pots I’ve gone through this year. Two broke, one was borrowed, and one is a mini pot that stays at work. One brave pot remains in my little apartment!
4: minutes in my drive to work (on average)
3: lamps in my office. Yes, I turn them all on every day
2: classes finished for my degree. 2 to go!
1: fiance’ gained. ❤
.5: miles to Bro #2
0: sadness looking back on 2016. For all the difficulties in society and pop culture this past year brought, I must say that 2016 was pretty freaking awesome.
